Dorothy Jean Witte, 87, of Aurora, Indiana passed away Friday, January 6, 2023.
She was born March 19, 1935, in Aurora, IN, daughter of the late Walter M. Witte and Dora (Andrews) Witte.
After High School, Dorothy enrolled in Nurses Training at Deaconess hospital who let Dorothy work there until she was old enough to take the State Nursing Test. She then entered the United States Air Force as a nurse, afterwards she worked at the Veterans Hospital for approximately 38 years. Dorothy was a very caring and positive person, she would dance into a room, lighting it up for patients and visitors and anyone who would look.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking, she even liked to do the grocery shopping, especially when she had coupons to use. Dorothy loved to travel, watch tv, especially Gunsmoke and the Virginian. She enjoyed reading, walking, gambling at the boat and playing with little children.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Arlene Hampleman of Rocklin, CA; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dora; siblings, Raymond Witte, Owen Witte, Leon Witte, Wally Witte, Henrietta Hubbard, Margie Witte Catherine Droege, and Shirley Steiner.
Friends will be received Friday, January 13, 2023 from 5-7 pm at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 16393 State Route 148, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the Church on Saturday at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard.
