Donna Margaret (Hixson) Walters, age 82, of Versailles, Indiana, slipped away to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the mature and beautiful age of 82. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and spiritual mother to many around the world, Donna leaves behind a legacy of deep faith, steady wisdom, and unwavering love.
Born in Toppenish, Washington, to Ted and Emma Hixson, Donna was the second of five children. She grew up surrounded by sisters-Evelyn, Marilyn, and Sharon-and carried the memory of an infant brother who passed shortly after birth. In 1962, while attending International Bible College in San Antonio, Texas, Donna met and married Leon Walters. Together, they began a life centered on ministry, family, and service. After graduating, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where they raised their three daughters and built a successful business.
The call to ministry eventually led them to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1979, where they joined Donna’s sister, Evelyn, and brother-in-law, Bishop Bill Hamon, in founding Christian International. Five years later, in 1984, they relocated to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, to help establish the ministry’s headquarters. Their final move came in 1992, when they settled in Versailles, Indiana, to co-found the regional sub-headquarters of CI Apostolic Network, CI-Central, and the Christian International Family Worship Center. For more than 30 years, she served her community and region with grace, strength, and deep compassion. Known by many as Apostle ”Momma” Donna, she was an ordained minister whose counsel was both practical and prophetic, offered with compassion, care, and lots of love. She is remembered by her family for her love of cooking, sewing and reading.
