(Batesville, IN) – More than 175 people gathered on December 8 for Weigel Funeral Home’s Remembrance Service to honor the memories of loved ones who passed away in 2023 and 2024 were remembered.
Funeral Director Michael Roemmich welcomed guests and said 2023 was a very difficult year for the staff, which lost long-time funeral assistant Rose Weigel in June, funeral director Jay Reichmuth in July, and funeral home owner Tom Johnson in December.
The staff chose not to host a Remembrance Service in 2023, and instead visited with families and gave them their Memorial Angel.
Roemmich introduced Fr. John Barker, OFM, pastor of Holy Family Parish, who provided words of encouragement for those grieving during the holidays along with suggestions for coping with loss.
Ron Weigel read the names of those who departed in 2023, and Chuck Weigel read the names from 2024.
Following a musical selection, Sue Siefert offered encouragement in the form of a poem, and Roemmich returned to invite guests to share in refreshments and to receive a Memorial Angel ornament as a token of the staff’s appreciation.
“The Weigel Funeral Home staff is honored to serve the families who have entrusted the care of their loved ones with us for 144 years and look forward to serving our community for many years to come,” Roemmich said.
