Decatur County REMC Sponsoring Students for Washington Trip

(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County REMC will sponsor students on the annual Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., June 15-22.

Students entering their senior year in 2025 are eligible to attend and are selected by the electric co-op to participate in the weeklong trip.

Indiana will send a delegation of students from throughout the state to convene with students from up to 46 other states.

“Decatur County REMC is pleased to provide this opportunity for our local youth,” Brett Abplanalp, CEO at Decatur County REMC said. “It’s a great trip and a wonderful chance to see the sites, make new friends and learn how everyone, even young people, can make a difference in the political process.”

Applications are available at indianayouthtour.org and are due March 3, 2025.

Students participating in the trip will visit the Flight 93 Memorial, Gettysburg Battlefield, Arlington National Cemetery, National Museum of the Marine Corps and Smithsonian museums.

The students will also tour the Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Franklin D. Roosevelt memorials, meet others from across the country and much more.

The Indiana Youth Tour students will also participate in a youth event hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and spend a day on Capitol Hill, where they will have an
opportunity to meet with Indiana’s congressional delegation to ask questions and share their thoughts on a variety of timely issues.
