Greensburg, IN — Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies will soon be wearing body cameras.
Sheriff Bill Meyerrose went before Decatur County Commissioners this week to request the devices, which he championed when he was running for the office.
Meyerrose was elected in November.
Three quotes were received: one was for $119,000 for 18 body cameras; another for dash cameras for $123,000, and the third for dash cams with a license plate reader for $170,000.
The quotes were to be held in place until January 31 due to the change in the Sheriff’s Office administration.
Commissioners approved the purchase of the body cameras for $119,000, but the dash cam requests were turned down.
The body cams are to be paid off over five years.
