(Greensburg, IN) – Officials working toward a new Decatur County community pool are out with a project status and fundraising update.
A $4.5 million total budget has been established, which includes a $3.9 million Build-Operate-Transfer contract with Blue Escapes Pools of Greenwood, and an additional $600,000 for locker room rehab, furniture, sail shades, and cabanas.
There have been $3.5 million in contributions to date, including:
- $1 million from the Decatur County Community Foundation;
- $1 million from the City of Greensburg through its 10-year lease with Decatur County Solid Waste Management for the former city street department location, and
- $1.5 million from the Decatur County Redevelopment Commission
The project has received $188,510.26 in private contributions.
As of January 26, $94,255.13 has been raised or pledged from the community, including the largest gifts being from The Napoleon State Bank and The Alma Taylor Foundation.
The Decatur County Community Foundation is matching donations, dollar-for-dollar up to $300,000 through Feb. 28. With the dollar-for-dollar match, another $94,255.13 has been dedicated to the project.
In total, $3,688,510.26 of the $4.5 million goal has been raised.
Officials say $811,489.74 is still needed to fully fund the project.
$205,744.87 is still available in match for community and corporate donations. Once matched, a total of $411,489.74 will be put toward the project. This would leave $400,000 to fully fund the project
The new 9,000 square foot pool (pictured) resembles the footprint of the former facility. It will include zero entry for accessibility and safety, a splash pad to the northeast, a four-flume slide to the northwest, and to the southeast will be a family slide for multiple users to ride together.
A completion date of summer 2026 is weather-dependent.
Donations are being accepted online at dccfound.org, or at the Decatur County Community Foundation at 101 E. Main Street in Greensburg.
Over the last month, numerous donors have shared memories of the former Allen Memorial Pool.
