Dearborn County residents warned about warrant scam

DEARBORN COUNTY, IN — The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office says residents have recently received phone calls from the number (812) 537-8700, and that the caller tells the other person that they have 24 hours to report to jail.

Authorities say it’s a method used to scam people and take money from them.

The sheriff’s office says they never call residents and request to pay money over the phone to handle a warrant.

Before sending someone money, you’re urged to call local law enforcement if you have any questions.
