Ripley County moves to Orange status as COVID cases surge locally, statewide

STATEWIDE — Ripley County has moved to Orange on this week’s state COVID-19 map, joining the surrounding counties of Decatur, Franklin, and Dearborn in that status.

The Ripley County Health Department is urging anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated to schedule an appointment to get the shot at www.ourshot.in.gov.

The Indiana Department of Health announced yesterday that 3,558 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Locally, Dearborn County reported 23 new cases; Ripley County had 18, followed by Decatur County with 16 and Franklin County with 10 positive cases.

During Wednesday’s public health commission announcement, state officials said they plan to revamp COVID-19 testing efforts in the weeks to come.

This is due to the increased demand for testing as the result of the recent surge in positive cases triggered by the Delta variant.
