(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) is expanding women’s healthcare locally through the 2026 Women’s Health Expo.
Over 120 women in the community received free health screenings, made possible through the generosity of Decatur County Memorial Hospital and the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County, and its supporters.
This year’s event, held on March 7, 2026, introduced an improved event flow, continued an online registration system, provided additional screenings, and expanded accessibility by opening more appointments to ensure even more women in the community have access to necessary health screenings.
In the coming weeks, DCMH staff will also begin a new follow-up outreach method, calling participants who need next steps to help schedule appointments or connect them with the appropriate care team.
Early results from the event show that 93% of attendees were recommended for some form of follow-up care, underscoring the ongoing need for preventive screenings in the community.
DCMH was able to provide comprehensive free screenings, including:
- A1C – Checks diabetes risk
- CBC (Complete Blood Count) – Checks overall health and helps detect anemia or infection
- CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel) – Checks kidney and liver function, blood sugar, and electrolyte balance
- Lipid Panel – Checks cholesterol levels and heart health
- Thyroid Tests – Checks thyroid function
- Vitamin Deficiency Tests – Checks for common deficiencies
- Skin Cancer Screening – Physical exam
- Breast Health
- Colon Health
- Gynecology
- Heart Screening Eligibility
- Lung Screening Eligibility
- Mental Health
- Nutrition Support – Learn about healthy eating, physical activity, and/or weight management support
- Smoking & Nicotine Support – Learn about quitting options and support
Dr. Mary McCullough, Dr. Krystle Roberts, Dr. Isaiah Steffen, Dr. Karen Summe, and Nurse Practitioners Brianna Daeger and Kelly Miller conducted these important screenings to detect serious health conditions early and provide essential care to those who may not receive regular primary care visits.
The volunteer team, including Dr. Jeffrey Powell, Dr. Scott Washburn, Nurse Practitioner Laura Greiwe, and social worker Katie Jones, alongside over 50 DCMH team members, ensured a smooth process of all event screenings and activities.
Beyond these health assessments, attendees explored an interactive and educational display that challenged common healthcare myths. Afterwards, event attendees visited a vendor fair featuring handcrafted goods from nine local small businesses, including Mama Byrd Made, She Laughs Luxe Bath Products, Tater’s Western Co., Blended Heritage, Boujie Nails with Britt, Copper Coyote, Heavenly Sweet Shack, Verdant Shelves, and Family Tree Woodshop.
Meanwhile, DCMH departments, including Cancer Care, Empowered Community, Family Medicine, Rehabilitation Services, and Senior Life Solutions, offered valuable health resources to community members. Attendees also enjoyed a brunch prepared by the DCMH Dietary Team.
“We are proud to offer this event to our community,” said Liz McCoy, Marketing and Communications Manager at DCMH. “The Women’s Health Expo provides women access to the screenings and education they need to stay informed about their health.”
