David W. Rodgers Sr. 74, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Friday December 21, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was born February 19, 1944 in Aurora, IN, son of the late Stanley Rodgers and Ruth (Armstrong) Rodgers
David was very patriotic and proud that he served our country. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was very active in Veterans affairs and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles all in Aurora, IN. He enjoyed listening to Rock-n-Roll music, the Blues, and playing pool. He loved his dogs and was known by the family as the ” Dog Whisperer.” His dog family consists of his best friend Buddy, Serge, Dexter and Kirby. David’s most precious time was spent with his family. He was an excellent husband, father and papaw. He will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his loving spouse of 51 years, Karen Rodgers (Huffner), sons, Gregory (Michelle) Rodgers of Australia and, David W. (Jennifer) Rodgers Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL; daughter, Tina (J’aime) Dobies of Louisville, KY; siblings, Paul (Clara) Rodgers of East Enterprise, IN, Shirley Roy of Aurora, IN, Norman Rodgers of Aurora, IN, and John Rodgers of Boynton Beach, FL; grandchildren, Joshua, Ella, & Noah Rodgers and Luke Rodgers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Steve Rodgers, grandmother Edith A Kelly.
Friends will be received Saturday, December 29, 2018, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at Funeral Home, at 2:00 pm with Mark Tanner officiating.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
