Columbus Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

(Columbus, IN) – Detectives with the Indiana State Police-Internet Crimes Against Children Section arrested a Columbus man on Tuesday following a two-month investigation into the possession of child sex abuse material.

Detective Robert Whyte began the investigation after receiving a tip that someone in Columbus was in possession of child pornography. Through investigative techniques, and with assistance from the Child Rescue Coalition, troopers say Det. Whyte identified 45-year-old Brian Willment as a potential suspect.

As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was served at Willment’s residence.  ISP says additional evidence related to the possession of child sex abuse material was discovered during the search.

Willment was then arrested on 10 Level 5 felony charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Bestiality.  He was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was being held pending an initial court appearance.

Indiana State Police Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) were assisted by the Columbus Police Department, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, and Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Indiana ICAC Task Force is a multiagency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to exploit or entice children sexually. The Indiana State Police oversees the task force.

The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to NCMEC.
