(Indianapolis, IN) – The Indianapolis Colts are making a special jersey patch to honor their recently deceased owner, Jim Irsay.

A black-and-white design with Irsay’s initials, signature, and trademark smiley face will be displayed on player jerseys.

The smiley face was used by the former owner when signing autographs.

Irsay took ownership of the franchise in 1995 as the successor to his father, Robert Irsay.

He died last week at 65 years old.

The Colts will begin OTAs today at the Colts Complex on the west side of Indy.
