Chuck Schwering, 67, of Greensburg passed away on February 24, 2025. He was born on July 7, 1957, in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Richard and Helen (Schroeder) Schwering. He graduated from Greensburg High School and went on to build a dedicated career at Batesville Casket, where he worked for 47 years.
On October 14, 1978, Chuck married Shawna Walters, beginning a lifelong partnership. He found great joy in spending time outdoors, whether fishing or tending to his yard with pride. He also enjoyed still board shoots and trying his luck with scratch-off tickets and the lottery.
One of Chuck’s greatest joys was watching his grandchildren participate in their various events. His presence and support were a constant source of encouragement for them.
Survivors include: wife, Shawna Schwering; mother, Helen Schwering; daughters, Krista (Nathan) Harmon and Keri (Geoffrey) Green; grandchildren, Mary Harmon, Luke Harmon, Lyla Green and Lainey Green; siblings, Fred (Melinda) Schwering, Brenda (David Wright) Crawford, Debbie (Ronnie Cox) Wall, and Diane Jordan; and sister in laws, Betty (Lester) Young and Darlene (Preston) Byrd. He was preceded in death by his father; mother and father in law, Charles and Leora Walters; and nephews, Jeffrey Wright and Craig Simon.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27, 2025 starting at 2:30 pm. There will be a time to reflect and share your memories at 5:30 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Margaret Mary Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
