Seymour, IN—INDOT maintenance crews will begin chip sealing a 10-mile section of S.R. 258 in Jackson County on Monday, July 1, weather permitting.
Lane closures with flaggers will be in effect from S.R. 58 to the bridge over the east fork of the White River, west of S.R. 11/Seymour, while work is completed.
Chip seal extends the service life of a roadway by three to five years and lowers maintenance costs. As a cost-effective preservation technique, $6 to $14 in taxpayer expenditures is saved for every $1 invested in road preservation. Chip seal is also completed much quicker than a complete asphalt resurfacing and can typically be completed with only lane closures/restrictions.
