Charles A. Lawburgh Jr  91 of Milan passed away December 13, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati.

Charles was born on August 30, 1925 in Bulan, KY to Charles A. Lawburgh and Isabel Fugate Lawburgh.

In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the 123rd Naval Construction Battalion in Midway during WWII.

On November 27, 1949 Charles married Betty Matney who preceded him in death on December 24, 2002.

Charles was a member of the U.S. Air Force for 25 years and served his country again in Vietnam. From 1971 to 1973 he was enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was the recipient of the Air Force Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross.

Charles was employed at the Fernald Uranium Processing Plant and worked for the Milan and Suman-Dearborn Community School Corporations as a custodian.

On April 17, 2011 Charles married Glenna Casebolt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Britt Godsey & Harold Lawburgh, and his wife Betty Matney Lawburgh.

Charles is survived by his wife Glenna Casebolt Lawburgh, his children, Charlene Whitaker, John (Belinda) Lawburgh, David (Andrea) Lawburgh, Mary Ellen (Steve) Woolum and Terri Clayton; Step sons Chuck Casebolt & Brent (Amy) Casebolt.  He leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Charles was a member of Hope Baptist Church, Sunman American Legion and Gideons International.

Services will be Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church 15593 US 50 Dillsboro, IN 47018 Pastor Tom Holt officiating.  Burial will follow at Craven cemetery in Milan with full Military rites at gravesite. Visitation will be Monday 5-7 p.m. at Hope Baptist Church.

Memorials may be given to the Hope Baptist Church or Gideon’s International.
