Charles J. Bentfield, age 79 of Batesville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Born April 19, 1938 in Batesville, he is the son of Olivia (Nee: Ferkinhoff) and Bertrand Bentfield. He married Elaine Wallpe February 20, 1965 at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris. Chuck followed his dad’s profession as a barber, taking over his father’s business when he was 20 years old. He was owner of Bentfield’s Hair Care for over 55 years, retiring in 2015. He was a member of the Batesville Knights of Columbus Council #1461 and the Batesville Eagles Aerie #1130.
Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also liked hunting, fishing, golfing and watching baseball and basketball. He is survived by his wife Elaine; daughters and son-in-laws Beth and Tracy Rohlfing of Batesville, Debbie and Rick Wright of Brownsburg, Indiana; brother Tim Bentfield of Floyds Knobs, Indiana and grandchildren Tate, Brooke, Baylee and Matthew. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters Jeanette Bedel and Doris Prentice.
Visitation is Monday, April 2nd, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3rd at St. Louis Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Margaret Mary Health Foundation or St. Louis School.
