Cathy Jo Chaney Metz, “The Princess”, age 67, Drewersburg

Cathy Jo Chaney Metz, affectionately known as “The Princess,” was born on June 15, 1958, in Rushville, Indiana. She transitioned from this world on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in Hamilton, Ohio, leaving behind a profound legacy and countless cherished memories.

Cathy’s pursuit of education culminated in earning her GED, and found immense joy in her hobbies, which included nurturing her garden, caring for her beloved pets, enjoying the heartfelt sounds of country music, and spending precious time with her family.

Cathy was a devoted mother to her three children: Cornelius (Misty) Metz, Richard (Kaylnn) Metz, and Travis (Angela) Metz. Her life was enriched by the laughter and love of her grandchildren: Teah, Tegan, Zofia, and Reighlyn. In addition to her heroic role as a mother and grandmother, she found companionship and joy with her partner, Kenny Rogers.

She is survived by her siblings, including brothers Paul (Bonnie) Chaney, Morgan (Patty) Chaney, and Willard “Bill” Chaney, along with sisters Annie Chaney and Liz (Ivan) Lane. Cathy was also blessed with many nephews and nieces, who will hold her memory close to their hearts.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan and Edith (nee Phillips) Chaney, Sr., who laid the foundation for the loving family she built. She was also mourned by her brothers Richard Chaney, Harold Chaney, Tracy Chaney, Carl Chaney, Jay Chaney, and Ray Chaney, who together represent a legacy of love and belonging.

Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Mt. Carmel Church located on State Road 252 in Mt. Carmel, Indiana. This gathering will honor her remarkable spirit and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.

Cathy Jo Chaney Metz will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She leaves behind a profound legacy that will continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
