Several members of the St. Louis Track and Field team competed in the finals of the CYO Track and Field Championships at IUPUI on Wednesday evening. It was an outstanding night for the Cardinals from both a weather and performance perspective.
Joshua Myers began the evening with a 1st place finish in the cadet age group (7th/8th grade) 1600m run along with a new school record time of 4:49.80. This marked the third time this year that Joshua broke the school record in this event. Adam Moster placed 5th in the 1600m run with a PR of 5:12.39 while Tyler Kuntz took 16th with a PR as well at 5:39.07. Benjamin Moster competed in the 5th/6th grade age group and placed 4th overall with a PR of 5:31.08. The 1600m set the stage for the remainder of the evening as the Cardinals dug in and continued to be very competitive.
Benjamin Moster and Zachary Harmeyer took the track next in the 400m dash. Benjamin placed 5th in his age group and did a nice job in competing shortly after setting his PR in the 1600m. Zachary placed 4th in the cadet age group and set a PR at 58.75.
The Moster brothers along with Joshua Myers competed very well in the 800m run later in the evening. Benjamin placed 5th in his age group at 2:33.47 capping off a terrific evening. Joshua Myers placed 3rd at 2:19.23 and Adam Moster followed closely in 6th at 2:22.59 in the cadet age group.
Zachary Harmeyer followed his 400m performance with a 6th place effort in the cadet 100m age group while Grace Mack placed 9th in the girls cadet age group. Zach and Grace both did a nice job as the 100m is a bit out of their range.
Max Giesting, Adam Moster, Zachary Harmeyer and Joshua Myers finished the evening with a 4th place effort in the 800m sprint medley while breaking the school record. The team finished the 100-100-200-400 relay in a time of 1:58.51. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the finals on Wednesday evening. What a great way to end the 2016 track season!
