The Batesville High School track team traveled just down the road to East Central on Saturday for their first indoor track meet of the season. Although there were 11 teams around the area competing, this was not a team scored meet. This meet gave the athletes a chance to take a look at how their winter training is coming along and a chance to compete against someone other than their teammates. This meet can also qualify them to the Indoor State meet at IU in Bloomington on March 24th. There are 2 more weeks to compete and try and qualify for this meet. The top 24 times and distances in each event will qualify for the State meet, so athletes will not know for a couple of weeks how their performances will stack up until all qualifying meets are complete.
Those that competed Saturday at East Central that placed in the top 8 for the Bulldogs were: 55m dash-Stephanie Nobbe, 4th (7.86), Jake Cruse, 5th (7.19); 1600m run-Liz Loichinger, 3rd (5:49); 400m dash-Haylee Harmeyer, 2nd (1:06.82), JJ Kuisel, 2nd (58.57) and Joseph Choi, 4th (1:00.38); 200m dash-Stephanie Nobbe, 3rd (28.13), Jake Cruse, 8th (26.63); Pole Vault-Christopher Laymon, 2nd (9’6″); Long Jump-Christopher Laymon, 4th (18’4.5″) and Adam Bedel, 7th (18’0″); High Jump-Morgan Meyer, 5th (4’8″), Gabby Gibbss, 6th (4’8″), Katie Bedel, 7th (4’6″) and Jake Cruse, 8th (5’2″); Girls 4 x 800m Relay, 3rd (11:14.65)-Liz Loichinger, Emma Gausman, Trysta Vierling and Haylee Harmeyer; Boys 4 x 800m Relay, 2nd (9:41)-Christopher Laymon, JJ Kuisel, Dillon Murray and Joseph Choi; Girls Sprint Medley Relay, 3rd (1:56.27)-Taylor Rowlett, Morgan Meyer, Stephanie Nobbe and Haylee Harmeyer; Boys Sprint Medley Relay, 3rd (1:46.31)-Dawson Lipperd, CJ Thomas, Charlie Laymon and Jake Cruse.
