The Batesville High School wrestling team traveled to Rushville to wrestle in the Rushville Super-Five way wrestling meet. Participating teams included: Batesville, Centerville, Connersville, Rushville, and Warren Central. The Bulldogs effort was second to none but the many forfeits the team gave up made each dual meet difficult for team scoring.
The Bulldogs started the day off against Connersville where only eight matches took place. The bulldogs were able to split the matches with the Spartans by winning four of them, but fell short to the Spartans by a score of 48-27. Earning victories for the dogs were freshman Jackson Wooldridge in the 113 lb. class with a first period pin, freshman Dallas Lamping in the 120 lb. class with a third period 6-4 decision, Senior Captain Neal Nobbe in the 160 lb. class winning by pin in the third period, Senior Captain Will Amberger in the 182 lb. class with a second period pin, and Senior Allen Hudepohl earning a forfeit.
Batesville’s second match of the day faced them off against the tough Centerville Bulldogs. The team came away with three wins out of the eight matches wrestled. After giving up five forfeits the dogs fell by a score of 60-24.
Winning matches for the bulldogs came from: Sophomore Chris Schene in the 138 lb. class by pin in the first period, Senior Neal Nobbe in the 160 lb. class by pin the first period, Senior Will Amberger in the 182 lb. class by pin in the first period, and senior Allen Hudepohl earning a forfeit.
Batesville’s third match of the day was against the Rushville Lions. The Bulldogs fell to the Lions 48-28 after giving up five forfeits; but won four of the eight matches wrestled.
Winning matches for Batesville include: Jackson Wooldridge in the 113 lb. class by a first period pin, Chris Schene in the 138 lb. class avenged an early season loss against his opponent by pinning him in the first period, Neal Nobbe in the 160 lb. class won by decision beating his opponent 11-1, Will Amberger in the 182 lb. class finished his opponent off by a pin in the first period, and Dallas Lamping earned a forfeit.
Batesville’s final match of the day was against the tough Warren Central Warriors. The Warriors were a perfect 4-0 on the day beating all participating teams and coming out on top of the Bulldogs 64-18. The Bulldogs came away with three wins out of the nine matches wrestled.
Winning matches for Batesville came from Neal Nobbe in the 160 lb. class by pin in the second period, Levi Nordmeyer in the 170 lb. class winning by pin in the third period, and Will Amberger in the 170 lb. class earning a pin in the second period.
Other wrestlers that put forth a great effort during their matches are freshman Laiken Hanna in the 106 lb. class and freshman Drew McLeod in the 145 lb. class; while Sophomore Hunter Fetters had two nice wins in the JV matches.
