In their first round matchup of the SEI Tournament, the Batesville Middle School 7th grade boys basketball team suffered a tough loss to Sunman Dearborn Middle School for the second time this season. The final score was 49 to 36 in favor of the Trojans.
Through it all, the Bulldogs played very hard and never gave up the entire game. Whenever the Trojans seemed to be pulling away, Batesville was able to answer with a run of their own. But in the end, Sunman Dearborn was too much for the Bulldogs.
The 7th graders were led in the game by Mason Barker with 9 points, RJ Powell and Jaden Peetz with 8 points, Ethan Brewer with 6 points and Calvin Sherwood with 5 points. With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 6-9 on the season and were eliminated from the SEI Tournament.
However, Batesville still has one game remaining on the schedule. The Bulldogs will take on Greensburg on Monday, January 25. This game was supposed to be played on January 11th but was postponed due to the weather.

“The boys played their hearts out and left it all on the floor. The game was a lot more physical than I would have liked, which gave the advantage to Sunman Dearborn’s bigger line-up. We were able to take the lead midway through the 3rd quarter, but a Sunman Dearborn run proved to be too much for us to overcome.” Bulldogs Coach Chris Bradford.
