Saturday, The Batesville Wrestling team traveled to Milan to compete in 5 duals. This was the bulldogs first true test of the season as they went 2-3 on the day as a team.
Batesville started the day beating Triton Central 36-29. Tyler Schaeffer (132) started the day with a pin to give Batesville the early 6-0 lead. Jt Linkel (145) and Josh Mobley (152) each had to come form being to secure their victories by pin. After a couple of losses Axel Garcia (182) got a pin which was fallowed by Brandon Manning (195) getting a forfeit to extend the bulldog lead to 30-23. In the final contested match with the bulldogs needing one last win to claim victory Alex Murphy came from behind to get a pin fall to secure Batesville’s victory before giving up 1 last forfeit.
Batesville then competed against the host Milan team. Batesville Battled strong with Axel Garcia Getting an other pin. Jonah Chase (138) got his first victory of the day with a 6-0 decision. Josh Mobley and Nick Nobbe (170) were able to pick up forfeits. Despite the effort the bulldogs lost their first dual of the year 47-21.
Batesvilles 3rd match up was against a very competitive Lawrenceburg team who brought a full line up. In their toughest dual today Axel Garcia was the bulldogs lone victory with a pin fall as Batesville lost 72-6 to a very experienced Lawrenceburg team.
Leading the bulldogs on the day was Axel Garcia and Josh Mobley with 4 victories each and Jt Linkel with 3 victories. Competing and winning in JV matches were Vonley Hund (145) and Nathan Livers (160). Batesville will next travel to Rushville on December 8th.
