The Batesville Freshman Boys Basketball team won their first contest of the season against the Franklin County Wildcats on Monday, 48-36. The Bulldogs got out to an early lead in the 1st quarter and never trailed throughout the game.
The Bulldogs led the Wildcats 13-4 after the 1st quarter. Franklin County continued to fight back in the 2nd quarter, scoring nine points to Batesville’s eight. The Wildcats closed the gap going into half time by hitting a buzzer beating 3-pointer to make it 21 – 13.
The game was fairly even in the 3rd quarter, as each team scored 10 points. However, the Bulldogs finished strong in the 4th, scoring 17 points to the Wildcats 13. The Bulldogs had a balanced offensive attack. They were led in scoring by Trey Peters and Sam Voegele, each contributing 11 points. Their next game is on Saturday vs Jan-Cen-Del at Batesville High School at 3:30pm.
