What a fun night! Although there was still quite a bit of chill in the air and it still doesn’t feel like spring, it was nice to not have to have a hat and gloves on. The Batesville Bulldogs fought hard tonight, stepping up in many events, allowing both the boys and the girls to bring home the championship trophies from the 9 team South Dearborn Invitational! It was so fun to watch as many athletes performed personal bests. It was a close meet throughout the night, but the boys managed to win by 3 points against the Franklin County Wildcats, 145-142. Taking 3rd place was Lawrenceburg 93.5, followed by Southwestern-69, South Dearborn-61, Oldenburg Academy-33, Switzerland County-28, Rising Sun-24.5 and South Ripley 23. On the girls side, the Bulldogs pulled off a victory by 9.5 points to Franklin County as well, winning 125.5-116. South Dearborn took 2nd at 98, followed by Switzerland County-67, South Ripley-55, Southwestern-52.5, Lawrenceburg 43, Oldenburg Academy-33 and Rising Sun-27. Two meet records were broken tonight and I would like to congratulate Megan Cole of South Ripley-breaking the 3200m run record by 5 seconds with a winning time of 11:32.32 and Anna Schatzle from Franklin County in pole vault with a height of 10’1″.
