UPDATE Wed., 4/7/2021 4:15 PM — The boil water advisory for the City of Greensburg customers only HAS BEEN LIFTED. Decatur County Rural Water Corporation customers are still under the Boil Water Advisory.
The Greensburg Water Treatment Plant submitted 11 samples to an independent lab, which the Indiana Department of Environmental Management determined was enough testing within the appropriate period of time. All samples were found to be negative. Per CDC guidelines, following the end of a water boil order, residents will need to run faucets for at least five minutes to let lines flush and run ice machines hooked directly into water lines for a few cycles. Due to regulations, Decatur County Rural Water Corporation has to do separate testing of water samples. This testing could not be started until the City of Greensburg passed its testing requirements. Testing samples have been sent out according to officials with DCRW, but the Boil Water Advisory will continue until further notice.

Greensburg, IN — According to Mayor Josh Marsh, the repair for the water main was completed around 6 pm on Monday evening. The system required the overnight hours to recharge and replenish the water supply lost from the break. Two companies were called in to assist with the repair: one company that vacuumed the excess water and one to help with the repair work.
Though water pressure should be restored to all homes and businesses, the Boil Water Order is still in effect for all customers with the City of Greensburg and Decatur County Rural Water (DCRW). The water was tested this morning and sent to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management for analysis. The results of the analysis will determine the length of time required for the Boil Water Order. The order will be in effect until at least Friday due to testing.
