BHS Track Earns Six Medals at State Indoor Meet

(Indianapolis, IN) – A pair of individual athletes and four relay teams from Batesville High School track and field earned medals at the Hoosier Relays Indoor State Meet at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Ayden Eckstein came in third with a leap of 6 foot 4 in the high jump.

Ella King finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 39 and 9.25 inches.

Batesville also had four relay teams earn podium status:
  • The boys 4 x 800 team of Griffin Koester, Ethan Lacey, Cash Myers and Jake Chapman placed eighth at 8:24.27, which improves betters their qualifying time by over 14 seconds.
  • The girls 4 x 800 team of Jayla Bedel, Maycee Holtkamp, Caitlin Raver and Kaylynn Bedel finished fifth at 10:10.28, which is also a drop of more than 14 seconds from their qualifying time.
  • The girls Distance Medley Relay team of Jayla Bedel, Abby Miller, Maycee Holtkamp and Kaylynn Bedel also placed fifth at 13:17.67, which is an improvement of more than 31 seconds.
  • The boys 4 x 400 team of James Rowland, Chris Stenger, Talan Rowlett and Jake Chapman finished sixth with a time of 3:31.64.

Other Bulldog athletes who competed at the state meet were:

  • James Rowland – 60m dash.
  • Maggie Jelenik – 60m hurdles.
  • Boys 4 x 200 relay – James Rowland, Noah Davis, Brock Mahon and Chris Stenger.
  • Girls 4 x 200 relay – Maggie Jelenik, Jersey Trenkamp, Nora Weideman and Savannah Pohlman.

A total of 87 boys teams were represented while 77 girls squads participated in the state meet.
