BHS Girls Swimming Preps for Sectional

The Batesville girls swim team will compete in the IHSAA sectional at East Central this week, and are entering the postseason after showing steady improvement throughout the latter half of the regular season, according to coach Greg McMullen.

He says Batesville has seen consistent progress across multiple events, highlighted by improved relay execution and late-season time drops from several swimmers. The Bulldogs’ relay groups have tightened exchanges and maintained stronger back-half splits in recent meets, an area that could prove critical in a sectional format where margins are often narrow.

Individually, swimmers such as Alexis Schiller, Emma Miller, and Cora Miller have continued to trend toward season-best performances, while contributions from Samantha Adams and Reillee Adams have added depth to the lineup. That balance has allowed Batesville to remain competitive across a range of events rather than relying on a single scoring focus.

The Bulldogs have emphasized race execution down the stretch, focusing on starts, turns, and finishes—key elements at a sectional meet where advancement often hinges on small technical details. Several swimmers enter the meet positioned near qualifying standards, giving Batesville flexibility in both individual events and relays.

With a mix of experienced upperclassmen and younger swimmers gaining confidence late in the season, Batesville heads to East Central and a competitive sectional field looking to translate recent progress into postseason results, McMullen said.
