The Batesville High School cross country teams finished out their regular season last night at the 15-team Greensburg Invitational. Both the boys and the girls captured a 4th-place finish. For the boys, the Milan Indians placed 1st with a score of 49 points, beating Greensburg with 57 points, then it was Roncalli at 63 points and the Bulldogs with 112. Coming in first for Batesville and placing 6th overall was Jake Chapman (16:59). Awards were given to the top 20 and Isaac Trossman was the other Bulldogs to earn a ribbon as he finished 14th. The varsity runners finishing out the top 7 for the Dogs last night were: Benjamin Adams, 24th, Jaden Basler, 31st, Paxton Harris, 37th, Eli Loichinger, 41st, and Landon Raver, 57th.
The girls also took a 4th place finish with Roncalli winning with an impressive 23 points. Indy Genesis to 2nd with 80 points, just beating out Southport with 83 and Batesville scored 96. Kaylynn Bedel led the way for Batesville with a 3rd place finish at 20:35. Also placing in the top 10 and our other award winner was Bayleigh Demaree finishing 8th place. Finishing out the varsity 7 for the Dogs were: Isabel Raab, 25th, Megan Allgeier, 28th, Ella Moster, 32nd, MaKenna Moore, 42nd and Shanna Smith, 45th.
The Bulldogs had two runners finish with career personal bests. Bayleigh Demaree broke her personal best by 22 seconds and Benjamin Adams by 10.
Now the Dogs get a little bit of a break as they have this next week to prepare for the Conference meet, which is next Saturday, Oct. 7th at Batesville High School. The action begins at 9:30! Come out and cheer on the Bulldogs as they will fight to finish as conference champs!
