Batesville Wins County Tournament

(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville Bulldogs are the 2026 Ripley County Tournament champions after defeating the South Ripley Raiders 66-55 in Saturday night’s title game at the Dawg Pound.

Trenten Luers tossed in 23 points to lead the Bulldogs while teammate Kamryn Holcomb added 19.

The Raiders’ Drew Volz led all scorers with 24 points.

With the win, Class 3A #10 Batesville improves to 9-1 while South Ripley falls to 8-4.

It was a sweep of county tourney titles for BHS. Batesville topped South Ripley 43-33 in the girls championship contest Friday night at Jac-Cen-Del.

Milan claimed third place in the RCT with a 74-60 win over Jac-Cen-Del in the consolation game.

The Indians’ Micah Norman led all scorers with 22 points; Gabe Riehle added 21 and Grant Langferman chipped in 12 points.

Blake Wagner led the Eagles with 18 points; Neil Sullivan contributed 15 and Darian Grieshop added 10.

Milan improves to 3-4 while Jac-Cen-Del slips to 3-7.

Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame

The Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2026 was introduced between the consolation and championship games.

This year’s inductees are:

  • Ted Ahaus (South Ripley)
  • Matt Callen (Milan)
  • Terry Giesting (Batesville)
  • Larry Grills (Sunman) – posthumous
  • Abby (Kirschner) Gesell (Batesville)
  • Ray Tebbe (Batesville) – Meritorious Service Award Winner
  • Roger Toops (Jac-Cen-Del)

An official induction dinner and banquet will be held on Saturday, April 11 at the Tyson Activity Center in Versailles.
