BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville Water Utility will flush water mains Thursday, April 14, and Friday, April 15.
The process can significantly lower water pressure in the area, and the flushing is done annually to remove sediment from the mains and improve water quality.
During flushing, sediment breaks loose from the walls of the water pipe and can cause a dark color in the water.
This sediment can contain iron and manganese which can stain clothing during washing and makes drinking water look unsightly.
Customers can mostly expect to see water pressure fluctuations.
The flushing schedule will be as follows:
Thursday starting at 5 am –
- Tekulve Avenue and East Pearl Street east of Eastern Avenue;
- Township Line Road;
- Lammers Pike;
- All areas on the north side of State Road 46 not previously listed;
- Mitchell Avenue;
- Columbus Avenue;
- Huntersville Road;
- Locust Avenue;
- EGS Boulevard;
- Lakeshore Drive;
- Valley Drive and Court;
- All of Hillendale Commons;
- State Road 129;
- Coonhunters Road;
- County Road 1400 North to Crossroads, including State Road 299 south of Batesville; and
