BATESVILLE, IN — National Day of Prayer was commemorated Thursday across the country.

Locally, the 18th Annual Batesville Community Prayer Breakfast was hosted by Izzy’s at Hillcrest.

After Batesville Kiwanis President Paul Ketcham welcomed attendees and Mayor Mike Bettice spoke, Batesville United Methodist Church Pastor Chris Renick delivered the message.

Ketcham noted the significance of the event.

“I think the thing that makes Batesville, Indiana special is all of the civic and religious opportunities people have to serve each other in our community,” Ketcham said. “Today, Reverend Chris sent a great message that the Sequoia roots are intertwined, and it creates great strength of community and I think today was an example of that strength of community.”

Entertainment was provided by the Batesville Singers.

The prayer breakfast is sponsored by the City of Batesville, the Batesville Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary clubs, and the Southeastern Indiana YMCA.
