Batesville man sentenced to 25 years for child molesting

VERSAILLES, IN — A Batesville man was sentenced in Ripley County this week after pleading guilty to a child molesting charge.

42-year-old Brian K. Sims was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Ryan King to 25 years in prison with no time suspended to probation.

Sims was accused of inappropriately touching a minor under the age of 14 once a month between January and November 2020.

Three other charges against Sims were dismissed when he pleaded guilty to a Level 1 Felony count of Child Molesting.

Sims received credit for 173 days served prior to sentencing. He was ordered to pay $185 in court costs and a $100 fine.

Sims will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life once he’s released from prison, and he is to have no contact with the victim.
