Batesville City Government Meeting Hours After Eclipse

(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville Board of Works and City Council will meet on the regularly-scheduled evening next month, which happens to be the day of the Great American Eclipse.

Both government entities will gather on Monday, April 8 beginning with the Board of Works at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Council session.

Mayor John Irrgang says he floated the idea of changing the meeting date to council because other communities in the path of totality were making schedule adjustments in order to handle the expected influx of visitors.

“The overwhelming response (by Councilmembers )was, ‘I don’t think we need to move it,'” Irrgang said. “I know there’s a lot of concern about traffic and such, but I don’t think traffic issues will be an event in town itself.”

The Mayor appeared on Wednesday’s edition of WRBI’s The Daily Pod. You can listen to the full interview on demand here.
