Batesville Chamber hands out awards, celebrates accomplishments at Annual Dinner

BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce handed out hardware at its Annual Awards Dinner Tuesday night at Romweber Party Place.

The theme of the event was “Mardi Gras – It’s Time To Celebrate.”

After a welcome and introductions from Executive Director Melissa Tucker and Chamber Board President Jonathon Maple, dinner was served and awards were presented:

Phi Beta Psi Sorority Xi Chapter received the Volunteer Organization Award;

Suzanne Kunkel (center) was presented the Educator of the Year Award by the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce Tuesday night. (WRBI Photo)

Batesville Primary School Assistant Principal Suzanne Kunkel received the Educator of the Year Award;

The Distinguished Service Award went to Roberta Cook;

And the Organization of the Year Award went to the Southeastern Indiana YMCA.

Also receiving recognition were outgoing Chamber Board Members Sheri Brougher, Shelli Fischer, and Kelsey Steinhauer.

The Batesville Chamber serves over 380 members.

In 2021, the Chamber sold $136,000 in gift certificates; $120,000 was spent at local businesses through the Chamber’s Holiday Passport Promotion, and $5,000 was spent at local businesses through the Chamber’s “Christmas in July” initiative.
