The Batesville boys 8th grade team hosted the Greensburg Pirates on Monday night. This was the first action for the Bulldogs since before the Christmas break and the team started the game with their slowest offensive output of the season. The Dogs were down 6 to 9 at the end of the first quarter. Things didn’t get any better in the second quarter for the Dogs as the Pirates were able to expand their lead to 13 going into halftime with a score of 24 to 11. The second half was a different story though as the Bulldogs never gave up and continued fighting to get back in the game. The Dogs used 14 point third quarter to cut the Pirates lead to 9 with a score of 25 to 34. It was the fourth quarter were the Bulldogs really put things together by scoring 21 points and only giving up 7. The Dogs really turned up the defensive pressure which lead to the offensive explosion. That never give up, team effort helped to give the Bulldogs the win with a final score of 46 to 41. Leading the Bulldogs in scoring for the game were Braydin Hughes 13, Kamryn Holcomb 13, James Hughes 11, Cole Abrams 5, and Carson Hartley 4. The win gives the Bulldogs a season record of 15 wins and 3 loses. The Dogs will next be in action tomorrow night, Tuesday Jan. 10th at home as they host Rushville middle school.
