(Jennings County, IN) – Authorities in Jennings County are asking for help in solving a deadly hit-and-run cold case.
The body of 27-year-old Joseph Gill of North Vernon (pictured) was found along State Road 3 near the Decatur County line on September 30, 2021.
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office says Gill was walking south along State Road 3 early that morning when he was struck and killed by a vehicle going in the same direction.
Despite conducting interviews, analyzing nearby surveillance camera footage, and poring over electronic data from the area between North Vernon and Westport, neither a driver nor a vehicle has been identified.
A new detective has been assigned to the case to take a fresh look at it, with the hope of bringing closure to Gill’s family.
Anyone who saw anything unusual that morning or may have information about the vehicle or its driver is urged to come forward.
Investigators say any piece of information, no matter how small, could be critical in solving the case.
