Arlene E. Wachsmann, age 81 of Batesville, died Monday, January 10, 2023 at Margaret Mary Health. Born June 3, 1941 in Cincinnati, she is the daughter of Irene (Nee: Stahl) and William Klene. She married Ron Wachsmann July 15, 1961 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Batesville and he preceded her in death February 23, 2007. She was a long time owner of Western Auto Sales with her husband and later worked in sales for Taff Furniture before retiring. She was a member of the Friends of the Library and the Batesville Historical Society.
Arlene is survived by her son David and daughter-in-law Michelle Wachsmann of Batesville; sister Joyce Hackworth of Hurt, Virginia; brother Bill Klene of Crown Point, Indiana; grandchildren Tyler, Molly and Sadie Wachsmann; good friends Mary, Aggie, John Paul, Jonathan, Josh and Joseph Williams as well as Lou Voegele and family. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son Michael Wachsmann and sister Barbara Smith.
Visitation is Friday, January 13th from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Bill Ehalt officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family requests memorials to Friends of the Library at the Batesville Memorial Public Library.
