Alma Bertha Corson, age 77 of Sunman

Alma Bertha Corson, of Sunman, was born on April 4, 1948, in Batesville, Indiana. She was the cherished daughter of the late Sylvester and Elizabeth (Messang) Grossman. Alma was a proud graduate of Sunman High School. On April 27, 1968, Alma was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Corson, and together they raised seven beautiful daughters. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church for many years. In her free time, Alma enjoyed quilting, mending and repairing her family’s clothes, gardening, tending to her flower beds, and working through her crossword books. She loved going racing with her husband Jerry, frying chicken for any occasion, and visiting the beach — sitting by the ocean tossing crackers to the seagulls. Above all, Alma treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and family. She was their most faithful supporter, no matter the occasion or endeavor. Sunday gatherings for a home-cooked meal and time together were among her greatest joys, as were holiday celebrations, especially Christmas.

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the age of 77, Alma passed away peacefully at her home in Sunman.

Those surviving who will carry Alma’s legacy forward include her seven daughters, Malinda (Jeff) Lusby, Angie (Gary) Barnes, Shelly Fasbinder, Benita (Morgan) Hedrick, Janette (Thomas) Slayback, Christa (Ryan) Cullen, and Ashley (Jody) Shannon; ten grandchildren; one step-grandchild; six great-grandchildren with three more on the way; as well as three siblings, Rita Mae (Bill) Robbins, Mary Ann (Melvin) Maple, and Raphael Grossman. Alma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Gerald “Jerry” Corson; her parents, Sylvester and Elizabeth Grossman; as well as five siblings.
