(Versailles, IN) – The South Ripley School Board this week honored Merritt Alcorn, who is retiring after serving more than 40 years as the district’s legal counsel.

Alcorn was presented a plaque and some gifts during a presentation at Monday night’s school board meeting.

Superintendent Rob Moorhead says South Ripley was blessed to be represented for so many years by Alcorn.

“He has made my job as superintendent so much easier, with his experience and his knowledge of school law,” Moorhead said. “I could always call on him if I had issues to deal with, and really have appreciated his counsel and guidance over the years.”

The school board will appoint a new attorney at its reorganization meeting on January 12.
