In a message to members, the co-op said it is looking for “dedicated leaders” who want to help shape the future of Decatur County REMC.
According to the co-op’s “Board of Directors – What You Need To Know” information sheet, directors have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of the membership as a whole and help oversee major decisions that can include annual budgets, rate schedules, bylaw amendments and capital credit retirements. The board typically meets monthly and directors are expected to prepare in advance, participate in training, and serve as member-ambassadors in the community. Directors are compensated for their time.
