(Greensburg, IN) – Blake and Amy O’Mara were honored Friday evening by the Rotary Club of Greensburg with the Distinguished Paul Harris Fellow Community Award for their commitment to making a difference in the lives of Greensburg and Decatur County.
The award was presented at the club’s annual Christmas party held at the Bruner Center in St. Paul.
Greensburg Rotarian and Paul Harris Community Award chair Lora Williams made the presentation by saying “The O’Mara’s engage in so many things, too many things to mention here. But they represent the true meaning and purpose of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.”
A Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who have made a significant impact on their community.
The local Rotary Club of Greensburg 3437 in District 6580 acknowledges this by making a $1,000 contribution to the Rotary Foundation in the recipient’s name.
Paul Harris was a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.
The Paul Harris Award demonstrates a life shared with purpose with the core values of Rotary and the motto, “Service Above Self.”
Greensburg Rotarian and District 6580 Governor Mandy Jo Lohrum and Greensburg President Rob DeHoff assisted in presenting the award.
Speaking on behalf of Amy, Blake said they were honored to receive the award and the family has a passion for giving back.
Rich Bryant provided the musical entertainment for the evening while Blanco’s Catering of Batesville provided the meal. Rotarian Emily Kuntz Steele oversaw the event and did an outstanding job as usual.
Regular meetings of the Rotary Club of Greensburg are held on Mondays at 12 p.m., at The Branch Gathering Place and Coffee House in downtown Greensburg.
