(Batesville, IN) — The Batesville Water Utility will flush water mains Thursday, April 6, and Friday, April 7.
The process can significantly lower water pressure in the area, and the flushing is done annually to remove sediment from the mains and improve water quality.
During flushing, sediment breaks loose from the walls of the water pipe and can cause a dark color in the water.
This sediment can contain iron and manganese which can stain clothing during washing and makes drinking water look unsightly.
Customers can mostly expect to see water pressure fluctuations.
The flushing schedule will be as follows:
Thursday, April 6 beginning at 5 am —
- Tekulve Avenue and East Pearl Street east of Eastern Avenue;
- Township Line Road;
- Lammers Pike; including all areas on the north side of State Road 46 not already listed;
- All of Mitchell Avenue, from Mitchell west on Columbus Avenue, and all of Huntersville Road north of Columbus Avenue;
- All of Columbus Avenue west of Mulberry, including Locust Avenue, E.G.S. Boulevard, Lakeshore Drive, Valley Drive, and Court.
- All of Hillendale Commons;
- State Road 129;
- Coonhunters Road and County Road 1400 to Crossroads, including all of State Road 229 south of Batesville, and
- All of Delaware Road.
Friday, April 7 beginning at 6 am —
