Dausch honored with Sagamore, Mayoral proclamation at retirement open house

(Batesville, IN) — The career and legacy of Marie Dausch were celebrated during an open house for the now-retired Executive Director of New Horizons at the agency’s Batesville headquarters on Friday, which was her last day on the job.

Dausch was presented with the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash by State Sen. Jean Leising on behalf of Governor Eric Holcomb.

In addition, Mayor Mike Bettice proclaimed March 31, 2023 “Marie Dausch Day” in the City of Batesville.

Dausch founded New Horizons in 1977 to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by creating opportunities through various programs and services.

She has served as the agency’s Executive Director since 1992.

New Horizons now serves more than 700 individuals in seven counties throughout Southeastern Indiana.

Jimmy Ryan has succeeded Dausch as Executive Director.

He joined New Horizons in 2015 and previously served as the agency’s Community Employment Services and IT Director.
