Versailles, IN — State Sen. Jean Leising, representatives from RoboKind, and John Gubera from Gubera Public Affairs recently visited South Ripley Elementary to learn more about the school’s Moderate Education Classroom, and the implementation of MILO robots, which are designed to work with students on the autism spectrum.
The MILO robots are used in grades K-8 and deliver specific social and emotional learning skills to students in South Ripley’s Moderate program.
South Ripley has secured three of these robots through the efforts of Moderate Education teacher Casey Hutton.
The program started as a grant in partnership with Indiana University in 2020.
RoboKind noticed that South Ripley Elementary and Mrs. Hutton were excelling with the use of MILO, and reached out to continue the relationship.
Senator Leising visited the Moderate Education classroom and observed students using MILO.
