Batesville’s junior high volleyball teams were both winners over Greendale Thursday.
The Bulldog 7th grade won 25-15-25-7.
“Strong serving was a key to the solid win,” said BMS coach Angie Ehrman. “Leading all servers was Ella Weber with 21/21 from the line earning 20 points. Brooke Wilhelm contributed 13 points with 7 aces. Ella King, Leigh Hertel, Sydney Campbell added 2 points each. From the front row, Campbell had 3 kills. Ellie Westerweld, Hertel, Weber, Caitlyn Fox, Claire Niese and Wilhelm had 1 kill each. Also contributing to the win were Eliza Weiler, Alexis Gallagher, Katie Wirth, and Madi Meyer with solid play.”
Batesville’s 8th grade beat the Bengals in three games: 18-25, 25-12 and 15-12.
“Our 8th grade faced the same team they met in last year’s SEI Volleyball Tourney Championship with the same outcome,” said BMS coach Shelly Prickel. “Down a starter, our team had to make some last minute adjustments. After getting off to a slow start in set one, the team rallied to win set two in convincing fashion and the final set resulting in a Bulldog win.”
“Grace Walter was the top server of the match scoring 17 points including 8 aces in 22 attempts,” added Prickel. “Walter also led the frontline attack pounding 7 kills, while Addison Luers and Reesa Zimmerman each chipped in with 4 respectively. Ava Walsman had 2 shots land for a kill while Anya Richey picked up 1 kill. Briley Broshears and Macy Young played some quality minutes. Both teams are 3-0. Great start, ladies!”
We thank coaches Ehrman and Prickel for the information.
