Ohio County, IN — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the closure of S.R. 262 in Ohio County on or after Thursday, April 15, for a $1.8 million slide repair project. The road will close for 120 days, through mid-August, between Downey Ridge Road and Stephenson Road. The official detour will follow U.S. 50 and S.R. 56, between Dillsboro and Rising Sun. Local access will be maintained for residents in the area.
The contract also includes slide repair and small structure replacement projects on S.R. 250 in Switzerland County, located approximately one mile west of S.R. 156 (slide) and just under ten miles east of S.R. 56 (small structure). Both projects are scheduled to take place next year under a 210-day road closure.
The $3.7 million contract was awarded to MAC Construction in October 2020. The completion date for all three contracts is set for November 30, 2022. Motorists are reminded to slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction-free in and near all work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
