Franklin County 4-H Beef ID Date Set

Brookville, IN—The 2020 Franklin County 4-H Beef ID and Weigh-in is set for Friday, March 6 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Franklin County 4-H Fairgrounds Cattle Barn.

All 4-H beef cattle, including steers, dairy steers, market heifers and all breeding heifers, commercial and registered, must be brought to the fairgrounds on March 6 to be identified by the county.  This is a requirement to be eligible to show at the 2020 Franklin County 4-H Fair.  This does not include starter calves.

Market animals will be ear-tagged and weighed. All weights will be recorded for the Rate-Of-Gain Program.  All cattle must be RFID tagged as well.  It is the 4-H members’ responsibility to make arrangements to have their animals identified and information entered into 4honline by the deadlines.   For full details please contact the Franklin County Extension Office.

Beef enrollment information was emailed out to all 4-H beef members enrolled for 2020. Youth must be enrolled in 4-H for the current year in order to enter their cattle in 4honline, this must be done prior to March 6. New members can still enroll at in.4honline.com and find helpful information at extension.purdue.edu/franklin or from the Purdue Extension Office located in room 214 of the Franklin County Government Building; hours are 8:30 AM-4:00 PM, closed from 12:30-1:30 PM for lunch.  Starter Calves will be identified in May along with sheep and goats and any heifers that are not able to come in March.
