Batesville, In. — Mayor Mike Bettice has declared next week (October 23 to 31) “Red Ribbon Week.” The week is designed to raise awareness about the negative effect of alcohol, drugs and tobacco in our community.
Mayor Bettice says the goal is to employ a team of families, educators, local & government leaders, businesses, churches, law enforcement agencies and service e organizations can develop the necessary strategy to confront the problem.
Mayor Bettice is very grateful for help and support of the Coalition for a Drug Free Batesville and the Batesville Community School Corporation.
As of this year more than 260,000 Hoosiers have admitted to nonmedical use of opioids. So far this year first responders have recorded 17 overdoses.
The national theme this year is “Your Future is Key, Drug Free.”
