Ronald H. Fledderman, age 78 of Batesville, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home. Born March 22, 1939 in Franklin County Indiana, he is the son of Eunice (Nee: Wolf) and Raymond Fledderman. He served in the Army Reserves from 1957- 1958 and married Jackie Flodder October 15, 1960 at St. Louis Church. Ron loved animals, especially horses. A member of the Thoroughbred Racing Association, he has raised, trained and raced horses for years. He enjoyed a good cigar, fine bourbon and visits to the racetrack and casino.
Taking night classes, he studied metallurgy, drafting and tool design. He would go to work for P & W Tool & Die in Cincinnati and eventually become CEO of the company, where he drastically changed the face of the business, implementing new manufacturing methods and creating automated systems that allowed the company sales to grow by 700%.
In 1978, he founded Batesville Tool & Die. What started with three employees has grown to over 900. He retired from the day to day running of the business in 1987 and remained Chairman of the Board until 2003. An accomplished businessman, he was a mentor to many. In the early 90’s he formed an investment company and a real estate development company.
Ron believed in supporting the community and giving back. He lent his time and talents to many organizations including being a director for First Bank & Trust, a director of Fifth Third Bank of Southeastern Indiana and a director and former board President of New Horizons Rehabilitation.
He is survived by his wife Jackie; daughters Ronda (Lance) Green and Rachelle (Kyle) Mathews; sons Jody (Kim) and Jay (Paula) Fledderman, all of Batesville, Joel (Robyn) Fledderman of Oldenburg; sisters Susan Bonelli of Harrison, Ohio, Pat Ertel of Indianapolis; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren with two more due to arrive shortly. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister Vida Sharp.
Visitation is Friday, October 20th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21st at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family requests memorials to Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice or New Horizons Rehabilitation.
