In high school swimming, Milan’s girls and Batesville’s boys won tri meets which also included Lawrenceburg. The Lady Indians topped Lawrenceburg 72-53 and the Bulldogs boys won 79-70 over Milan.

Double individual event winners for Milan included Emily Knueven, Ariel Haessig and Dylan Thomas along with Batesville’s William Johnson and Joseph Shroder.

Single event winners for the Indians featured Ellana Jutzi, Adam Volz and Abigail Moore plus the Bulldogs Ciaran Tyrer, Ben Moster and Sean Callahan.

Milan took three relay events and Batesville won one.  The Indians also celebrated Senior Night honoring Adam Volz, Ryan Schwipps and Kenzie Deffinger.

The South Ripley swimmers were also in a tri meet at South Dearborn with Simon Kenton.  The kids from Independence, Kentucky won both meets.

Scoring individual wins for the Raiders included Darcie Diem in a pair of events plus Olivia Kavanaugh and Evan Eaglin in one each.  Kavanaugh nearly collected a second blue ribbon but was tapped out at the wall by one-tenth of a second.  (Full details below.)

Below is Batesville coach Greg McMullen’s unedited report followed by complete results from Milan coach Heather Thomas.

(Coach McMullen) On Thursday, the Bulldogs traveled to Milan to compete once again with the Tigers and the host Indians. The tigers and Indians swept all of the events on the women’s side, with the Bulldogs coming away with seven second place finishes, including two by senior Maria Lopez.
The men won seven events overall and held off a charge by the Indians to come away with a narrow, 9-point win.

Below are South Ripley’s unedited notes from coach Stacey Eaglin followed by complete results of the Raiders’ meet at South Dearborn with Simon Kenton.

(Coach Eaglin) When you look at the results sheet, you will see that though SR did not score the most points, it was only because of numbers. SR placed well in each event they were in! Here are a few highlights:
Darcie Diem placed 1st in the 200 Free and 100 Free
Olivia Kavanaugh placed 1st in the 50 Free and got 2nd in the 100 Breast BUT only missed first by .1 of a second . It was a tight Race
Olivia Gilley placed 4th in 50 Free and 5th in 100 free. She may not have placed top three, but she achieved great times in lane 6 fighting the flow of water jets.
Evan Eaglin placed 1st in 50 Free and 2nd in the 500 Free
Jackson McAdams placed 5th in the 50 Free and 4th in the 100 Free All personal bests. Jackson also had to fight the currents in lane 6.
